About the units

Degree Fahrenheit (°F)

Water freezes at 32 °F and boils at 212 °F at sea level. Used for everyday temperatures in the US.

Kelvin (K)

The SI base unit of temperature. Zero kelvin is absolute zero; the step size matches the Celsius degree.

Temperature scales do not share a zero, so converting between them needs an offset as well as a factor. Water freezes at 0 °C, 32 °F and 273.15 K. A change of one degree Celsius equals a change of one kelvin and 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit.
